Pockets blinked in surprise. He hadn’t thought about that before. His mind started to wander as he imagined other pets – cats, rabbits, horses, and hamsters. But what about a fish? He wondered aloud.
Linda chuckled gently, her laughter light and airy. “Well, a fish doesn’t run around outside. It stays in its tank or bowl at home.”
Pockets nodded thoughtfully, but as he looked at Linda’s dog, he couldn’t help but think of his own stuffed animals. “I lose them all the time,” he admitted with a shy smile. “One time, I was so hungry that I left my teddy bear at the park. When I came back, he was gone. I should’ve had a tag around his neck… with bells on it.”
Linda’s smile grew wider as she listened to Pockets’ story. She kneeled down to his level, her honey-brown eyes warm and understanding. “You know, Pockets, sometimes we all lose things that are special to us.
