Pockets and the Broken Glass

One quiet afternoon, little Pockets was sitting at the kitchen table, drawing with his favorite crayons. His mom had given him a special glass cup for his juice, shiny and smooth, that made him feel grown-up.

But, oh no! As Pockets reached for his cup, it slipped from his hands and fell to the floor. Crash! The cup broke into tiny pieces.

Pockets felt his heart twist. He wanted to say sorry to the cup, to fix it, to make it whole again.

“I’m sorry!” he whispered, looking at the shattered glass. But the cup didn’t move. It didn’t smile or say it forgave him. It was just broken.
